A Novel in the Works

Ken Douglas Square

Hello Dear Readers,

This is me, after two days in the woods, without a shower. Though the photograph was made last summer, this is the first day of 2016 and I’m gonna be a writer again.

I’m a photographer, but I used to be a writer as well and you can see my novels by following this link. But I stopped writing fiction about five years ago, when Vesta and I started getting overloaded with wedding work.

At least I told myself that’s why I stopped. But in truth, that’s not true. I coulda kept on, but for reasons I don’t really know, I stopped. I think maybe because writing fiction is something you have to do everyday. It’s like having homework everyday. And it’s hard, everyday.

I told myself, by taking a writing break, I could concentrate more on my photography. But I was looking for an easy way out. An easy excuse to not having to do that homework.

So I’ve made a New Year’s resolution on this first day of 2016. I’m gonna take a photograph a day and write a hundred words of fiction to go with it. And those hundred words are gonna morph into a 36,500 word outline for a new novel at year’s end.

Where I’m with this story, I don’t know. With luck, the photographs will lead the way. Will I finish, I hope so. But like most of us, I’ve made and broken a lotta New Year’s resolutions. But I’m gonna try, cuz I really wanna be a writer again. And you can’t be a writer if you don’t write.

As for the stories and photos, each square photo below will reveal ten days if you click on it. I hope you do and I hope you like the story.

Thank you for reading,
